Highlander (1986, Russell Mulcahy)
High concept action has Christopher Lambert as an immortal Scottish sword fighter who has to fight other immortal sword fighters. Film splits between flashbacks to the Scottish Highlands where Sean Connery shows up to train Lambert and then the present where Lambert has to fight Clancy Brown. Suffers from being a dumb idea poorly written then poorly–if sincerely–produced, poorly acted, and poorly directed (director Mulcahy’s got no sense of narrative). Good Queen songs though. Followed by HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING. U.S. theatrical version only had a VHS and LaserDisc release. Director’s cut is on DVD, Blu-ray, Streaming.
